Queer Voices – dein Podcast

Today, I’m very honored to welcome Fatou to the show. Fatou comes from the Gambia – a West African country surrounded by Senegal. Queerness is still criminalized in the Gambia, a painful legacy of British colonial rule. Queer people risk being imprisoned for life.  Like the majority of the population in the Gambia, Fatou grew up in a Muslim family.  She trained and graduated as a nurse at the Gambia College. But her life changed completely when her family found out that she had a girlfriend. What followed is a journey of violence, betrayal, and survival.  In 2023, Fatou was nearly killed for being herself. She escaped the Gambia – first to Senegal, then Romania, and finally Germany, where she is still fighting to stay safe. Today, she faces the threat of deportation to a country where her life is in danger. Fatou’s story is extremely tough – but it’s one that needs to be heard. Heute darf ich Irene Löffler empfangen. Im Vorstand des LSVD Verband Queere Vielfalt Bayern ist Irene verantwortlich für die Themen Senior*innen, Kultur, Religion und Behinderung.  Als Theologin und religiöse Person ist Irene in verschiedenen queeren christlichen Organisationen tätig.  Sie arbeitet auch als Archivarin für die queere Community und kooperiert dabei mit dem Frauen- bzw. F-Zentrum Augsburg, wo sie bereits seit den 1980er-Jahren aktiv ist.  Außerdem bietet Irene schon lange queer-feministische Stadtführungen an. Heute darf ich Kem aka Kerosin95 empfangen. Kem ist Musiker und Performer. Seine Texte sind stark, direkt und politisch – weil Rap schon immer mit Widerstand zu tun hatte. Hört unbedingt in sein letztes Album Coming Out rein.  Seine Musikkarriere begann schon 2014, als er zusammen mit seinem Zwillingsgeschwister und anderen Musiker*innen eine Band gründete. Danach folgten weitere Projekte, bis er schließlich als Kerosin95 auf die Bühne trat. Als trans Person im Musikbusiness musste Kem viel aushalten: TERFs und queerfeindliche Strukturen. Zwei Jahre lang hat er deshalb keine Musik veröffentlicht. Jetzt ist er zurück – entschlossener denn je. Und Kem nutzt seine Bühne. Today, I’m super excited to have María Moctezuma on the show.María is a singer-songwriter and an activist from Mexico. She blends ancestral sounds with powerful political messages. Today, she’s based in Germany. Her music is deeply rooted in Maya culture and explores themes of identity, decolonization, and resistance. María sings over layered vocal loops and traditional instruments, creating soundscapes that are both ancient and radically present. She calls her music Sonido Raizoso (sound of the roots) and through it, she brings feminist, queer, and Indigenous stories to the stage. Her performances are pretty mind-blowing.
