TPM022 - ThinkPads in Filmen und Serien (feat. Teleprost)

Computer tauchen schon lange in Filmen und Serien auf - sogar in manchen Operninszenierungen sind die Geräte Bestandteil der Requisite. Neben Lifestyle-Geräten können gelegentlich sogar ThinkPads begutachtet werden. Zusammen mit Frank und Hannes vom Teleprost-Podcast erarbeiten wir uns anhand einiger Beispiele die Beweggründe hierfür. TPM021 - ThinkPad X300 (feat. Laptop Retrospective)

We’re kicking off the year 2026 with the most important ThinkPad Lenovo has probably ever built: the X300. It is the first notebook that Lenovo designed from scratch after acquiring IBM’s notebook divison in 2005. Together with Thomas Rogers, best known for his YouTube channel Laptop Retrospective, we’ll deep dive into the device history including its design phase and prototype.


During CES 2026 Lenovo introduced two new ThinkPads: X9 15p Aura Edition and X1 Carbon Gen 14. Shownotes

TPM020 - Docking Stationen

Docking Stationen waren früher ein Feature, welches Business-Geräte von Consumer-Hardware differenzierte. Seit 1992 wurden über 100 solcher Erweiterungen produziert - mit teils sehr unterschiedlichen Konzepten. Neben simplen Port Replicatoren gab es auch wuchtige Gehäuse, die Notebooks zu vollwertigen PCs machten.


Qualcomm hat ein neues ARM-SoC vorgestellt, während es weiterhin schlecht um den Linux-Support des X1E steht. Erste Testberichte der AMD ThinkPads T14 Gen 6 und T16 Gen 4 sind aufgetaucht, während Windows 1.0 und der Intel Pentium 4-Prozessor Jubiläen feiern. TPM019 - Active Protection System (feat. Evgeni Golov)

2003 stellte IBM mit dem Active Protection System eine Technik vor, die Festplatten vor Fallschäden schützt. Durch kontinuierliche Überwachung der Notebookposition erlaubt es diese Stürze vorab zu erkennen und fatale Headcrashes zu vermeiden. Zusammen mit Evgeni Golov, dem langjährigen Maintainer der Linux-Implementation, besprechen wir die technischen Details der tp_smapi- und hdapsd-Projekte. Diese haben nicht nur einen praktischen Nutzen sondern laden auch zu kreativen Einsatzzwecken ein.
