TPM019 - Active Protection System (feat. Evgeni Golov) 2003 stellte IBM mit dem Active Protection System eine Technik vor, die Festplatten vor Fallschäden schützt. Durch kontinuierliche Überwachung der Notebookposition erlaubt es diese Stürze vorab zu erkennen und fatale Headcrashes zu vermeiden. Zusammen mit Evgeni Golov, dem langjährigen Maintainer der Linux-Implementation, besprechen wir die technischen Details der tp_smapi- und hdapsd-Projekte. Diese haben nicht nur einen praktischen Nutzen sondern laden auch zu kreativen Einsatzzwecken ein. Windows 95 und DirectX feiern 30-jähriges Bestehen. TPM017 - 5xx-Serie Die 5xx-Serie gilt als einer der Vorgänger der heutigen X-Serie. Zwischen 1993 und 2001 wurden 8 ultraportable Geräte produziert - 4 davon ausschließlich für den asiatischen Markt. Einer spannenden Kollaboration mit Canon entsprangen gleich 2 Laptops mit integriertem Drucker. Im Museum sind mit einem X1, zwei T30, einem T400s und einer Dock 2631 neue Geräte aufgenommen worden. Das Sommerloch ist bei den News ausgeblieben: erste Testberichte des E14 G7, E16 G3 und T14s 2-in-1 G1 sind aufgetaucht. Framework wird bis auf weiteres kein TrackPoint anbieten und Medion geht in Teilen zurück zum ursprünglichen Firmengründer. TPM015 - Tastaturen Früher waren sie ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal und auch heute assoziiert man sie immer noch mit ThinkPads: Tastaturen. Zusammen mit Philipp vom CCH-Podcast steigen wir in einen tiefen Kaninchenbau und werfen einen Blick auf die Tastatur-Geschichte und beleuchten die Veränderungen der ThinkPad-Tastaturen im Laufe der Jahre.
