EDL in Germany: Kylian Lopez and Dennis Helbing on Growth, AI and the European Radiology Market
This episode was recorded in English in Paris during the JFR, France’s leading radiology congress. Our guests are Kylian Lopez, CEO of EDL, and Dennis Helbing, CSO Germany.
EDL was founded in Marseille in 1994 and makes software only for radiology, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy. In France it is the market leader for RIS, used in around 75% of hospitals. It has more than 700 installations and about 230 employees. With the acquisition of RadCentre from Mesalvo, completed on October 1st, EDL is now expanding in Germany.
Topics covered in this episode:
Leadership and succession: how Kylian went from an internship to CEO of the company his father co-founded.
France and Germany compared: France requires official approval for new MRI and CT scanners. Because of that, Frenchpractices had to become more productive and adopted digital tools early.
The RadCentre acquisition: why Germany matters to EDL, and what the RadCentre team and its customer references add.
One platform for several countries: how one product can meet the needs of France, Germany, Switzerland and other markets.
The role of RIS vendors: moving from administrative systems to software that brings ongoing innovation.
AI along the whole workflow: from scheduling and check-in to billing and reporting. It runs quietly in the background and could save radiologists 20–30% of their reporting time.
Europe and AI: data protection, the EU AI Act, and Europe’s position next to the US and China.
Thank you to Kylian Lopez and Dennis Helbing for the conversation.
