Opening track ‘I Won’t Cry’ immediately sets the tone with classy vocal sampling from Loleatta Holloway, warm chord progressions and rolling swung percussion anchored by Deas’ characteristically rich bass. Following up, ‘Waterfall’ introduces bleepy modular sequences and chopped vocal fragments, with a sweeping drone synth cutting through the mix above the track’s rolling bass. On the flip side, ‘Silent Tension’ continues deeper into minimal territory, combining crisp clap fills, subtle vocal chops and delayed chord repetitions into a slow burning groove.
