"Oscar, wir müssen reden ..." ist ein Podcast, bei dem wir die Filmgeschichte durch die Linse der Best-Picture-Oscarkategorie und aller Nominierten betrachten... und möglicherweise verzweifeln. In der 28. Folge betrachten setzen wir unsere Besprechung der 8. Oscar-Verleihung vom 5. März 1936 fort, indem wir uns in gleich zwei kolonialistische Abenteuerfilme stürzen, nämlich in die erste Zusammenarbeit von Michael Curtiz, Errol Flynn und Olivia de Havilland ("Captain Blood") und in Gary Coopers ersten Versuch, einen Oberlippenbart zu tragen ("The Lives of a Bengal Lancer").

Nach der Bonusfolge 1934 ("Deutscher Nationalpreis für Buch und Film") widmen wir uns abermals in dieser Bonusfolge (1935) einer Gegenperspektive, nämlich mit dem zweiten internationalen Filmfestival der Welt, nämlich dem Moscow International Film Festival bzw. dem Sowjetischen Filmfestival in Moskau, wie jenes damals hieß. Zwischen dem 21. Februar und dem 2. März 1935 bat die sowjetische Hauptstadt zum kulturellen Spektakel - und wir folgen dieser Einladung gerne, indem wir mit dem sowjetischen Kultfilm "Chapaev" der (sogenannten) Vasilyev-Brüder ideologisch-ästhetische Verrückungen sowie Subversion diskutieren.
