Columbus, Romans 6, and Your New Master Welcome to this episode of
Kingdom Living with Chuckles! On this Columbus Day, we are taking a
deep, unfiltered look at history and scripture to uncover the
devastating cost of a divided heart. First, we evaluate the complex
legacy of Christopher Columbus through a realistic Kingdom lens. He
was a man with a self-proclaimed divine assignment who ultimately
allowed the pursuit of gold, prestige, and worldly empire to
corrupt his character—leading to the brutal exploitation of God’s
image-bearers. We look at how a godly vision can be completely
derailed when we embrace the dangerous lie that the end justifies
unrighteous means. Then, we transition directly into a
verse-by-verse study of Romans Chapter 6 to examine the spiritual
anatomy of compromise. The Apostle Paul unpacks how our old, sinful
nature was executed and buried with Christ so that we are no longer
legal slaves to sin. We discuss what it means to daily "reckon"
ourselves dead to sin, how to present our bodies as weapons of
righteousness for the King, and the ultimate contrast between the
two kingdoms: the earned wages of sin vs. the unearned gift of
eternal life. Key Themes Covered in This Episode: • Dominion vs.
Domination: Why missing the Imago Dei in others turns people into
stepping stones for personal ambition. • Serving Two Masters: A
historical and scriptural analysis of Matthew 6:24 and the tragic
shift from missionary exploration to carnal compromise. • Under New
Management: A verse-by-verse breakdown of Romans 6:1–23, exploring
why a dead slave no longer responds to an old master's orders. •
The Final Balance Sheet: Understanding the difference between a
wage earned and a gift received. Scripture References: Matthew
6:24, James 1:14-15, Matthew 20:25-26, Luke 9:25, Micah 6:8,
Genesis 1:27, and Romans 6:1-23. Subscribe for more verse-by-verse
