Tony Alamo Ep80 How to have God's life living in you part 178
Polygamy, the Book of Jasher, and Seducing Spirits in the Last Days
World Pastor Tony Alamo opens program 280 of How to Have God's Life
Living in You with teaching on polygamy, child-marriage customs
drawn from the Book of Jasher, and warnings about seducing spirits
in the last days, while co-host Sharon Alamo reads scripture,
ministry testimonials, and the Christmas story from Luke. Program
280 Opens With Warnings Of Coming Wrath World Pastor Tony Alamo
opens program 280, part 178 of his series How to Have God's Life
Living in You, reminding listeners that tapes, CDs, Bibles, and his
literature are free of charge when finances are short, with postage
and handling covered by the ministry. He says co-host Sharon will
give several ways to order copies at the end of the hour, and he
asks those with means to pledge toward radio broadcasts and
newspaper ads so the gospel can reach more homes. Alamo tells
listeners the Lord has informed him that once the hundred
forty-four thousandth Jew is saved, the wrath of God will pour out
on the earth in rapid, unannounced plagues, striking like a thief
in the night. He warns that only what is done for the Lord in this
life will count at the judgment, urging listeners not to hoard
millions or billions while souls remain unreached. A Teaching On
Polygamy And A Cash Challenge Alamo turns to a teaching that having
more than one wife is sometimes ordained by the Lord, though he
stresses not everyone is called to it, citing God giving David
several wives in the Old Testament and saying that if more had been
needed, the Lord would have provided them. He insists there is no
condemnation in scripture for a wife the Lord gives, and offers a
cash challenge, fifty thousand dollars, raised later in the program
to one hundred thousand dollars, to anyone who can find a verse in
the Old or New Testament, King James Version, declaring that no
polygamist shall enter the kingdom of heaven. He says he knows
people have gone to prison for acting on something he believes God
directed, and insists Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and
forever. He asks Sharon to read First Timothy on seducing spirits
so listeners can hear scripture he says the government and media
twist. Seducing Spirits, Abortion Statistics, And School Condoms
Sharon reads First Timothy four, verses one through three, on
seducing spirits and doctrines of devils that forbid marriage in
the latter times, and Alamo calls this a prophecy being fulfilled
by a government and media he brands the Antichrist. He has Sharon
cite abortion figures, eighty-eight thousand, nine hundred
eighty-one in New York City in 2005 and ninety-one thousand, six
hundred seventy-three the year before, adding that forty-four
percent of births occur outside marriage and that schools hand out
a million and a half condoms a month to pre-teens and teenagers.
Alamo argues the government stimulates casual sex while branding
marriage, which he calls scriptural and sinless, as the real evil,
pointing to young women who have reached puberty as ready for
marriage. He says he preaches this not from personal interest but
because the Lord keeps pressing him to speak against laws that
imprison people for what he believes scripture allows. The Book Of
Jasher And Rebekah's Marriage At Ten Alamo tells listeners the
Catholic Church removed books from the Bible, including the Book of
Jasher, the books of Enoch, Clement, and Wisdom, which he offers
free to anyone who cannot afford them. He has Sharon read Joshua
ten and Second Samuel one, both referencing the lost book of
Jasher, then turns to its account of Rebekah, said to be ten years
old when she married Isaac, who was forty. Alamo argues puberty,
not a fixed age, marks readiness for marriage, citing Mary's
espousal to Joseph around age ten or eleven under Middle Eastern
custom described in a New York Sun article dated December 21, 2006.
He criticizes Martin Luther's description of the Vatican as a sewer
of corruption and insists the hierarchy, not ordinary Catholics,
perpetuates what he calls Antichrist teaching. He says former
Catholics make up more than two-thirds of his own congregation, and
that true believers of any background belong to one body in Christ.
A Jericho Song And Four Listener Testimonies Alamo sings Joshua Fit
the Battle of Jericho with J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet, then
teaches that the Lord is about to pour out plagues once the last of
the hundred forty-four thousand Jews are sealed, after which he
says there will be no more salvation and the earth becomes a
nightmare. He turns to listener testimonials read by Sharon: a Los
Angeles woman whose sister got saved and received the baptism of
the Holy Spirit after reading the tract Five Steps to Salvation
during a divorce; a man named Dante who says tongues came to him
days after his salvation at the Tony Alamo Christian Church and who
credits the same Holy Spirit with later reaching his sister; a Fort
Smith, Arkansas account of a woman who dreamed the name Tony Alamo
before receiving a gospel tract; and a Fullerton, California woman
named Mary who found Alamo's article in the Orange County Herald
while studying Ezekiel thirty-seven. Luke's Nativity, David's
Rebuke, And A Closing Prayer Sharon reads the second chapter of
Luke describing Caesar Augustus's decree, the journey to Bethlehem,
the manger, the shepherds, and the presentation of the infant Jesus
in the temple before Simeon, while Alamo comments line by line on
the espousal customs behind Joseph and Mary's marriage, drawing on
George M. Lamsa's Idioms in the Bible Explained. He warns Hulk
Hogan by name against letting his daughter date, calling courtship
unscriptural and dangerous. Before closing, Alamo has Sharon read
Second Samuel twelve, where the prophet Nathan tells David, who had
taken another man's wife, that the Lord himself had given David his
master's wives and daughters, arguing this proves plural marriage
can come from God for those the Lord specifically chooses. Alamo
leads a spoken sinner's prayer confessing Jesus Christ as the Son
of the living God, and Sharon gives the ministry's website,
Texarkana post office box, phone, and fax numbers before Alamo
closes the hour singing Where the Healing Waters Flow with J.D.
Sumner and the Stamps.
