On the occasion of the visit of the participants of the Austrian
Friends-of-Freedom's mentoring programme in Brussels the Austrian
Member of the European Parliament and Chairman of the
Friends-of-Freedom Austria, Lukas Mandl, hosted a podcast about
security, defence and deterrence with Daniel Braun, former
government official and policy advisor, today’s CEO of GLOBSEC,
and with the three students and Friends-of-Freedom mentees Flora
Handlir, Marco Vorgic and Vinzenz Willim. Braun shared deep
insights into the analysis of the current state of Europe’s
security, its links to the economy, and future perspectives.

Lukas Mandl reiterated the European Parliament’s decisions since
the beginning of Putin-Russia’s war of agression. Mandl also
emphazised once again that „not at all the militarisation of all
parts of society must be the objective for Europe. It’s quite the
other way round: To uphold our societies of diversity and
colourful daily life we need the capabilities to defend ourselve
militarily.“ The three mentees shared as well their personal
experience since the beginning of the war as well as their plans
and visions for upholding the civliisation of liberal
democracies.
