#PolitikaAllTheWay | Federalism advocate Orion Perez Dumdum
explains why the Duterte administration’s push for federalism and
charter change failed to push through — from what he describes as
a “too many lawyers” problem in the consultative committee, to
issues he raises about the draft (including keeping the 60-40
restrictions and gaps in the proposed federal setup). He also
looks back at how the momentum was disrupted by the Taal eruption
and the COVID-19 outbreak, and argues why changing the system
remains “absolutely necessary.”
