genocide scholar Martin Shaw, who was one of the first genocide
researchers to publicly argue that Israel's assault on Gaza
constituted genocide in the immediate aftermath of October 7,
2023.

many scholars and institutions were reluctant to do so, and how
the past three years have reshaped the field of genocide studies
