In this episode of Built 4 More, Devin Lloyd sits down with
Pastor Joby Martin and Denny Thompson for a powerful conversation
about faith, identity, and purpose just hours after signing with
the Carolina Panthers in NFL free agency. Devin shares what it
was like navigating the emotional roller coaster of free agency,
leaving the Jacksonville Jaguars after four seasons, and stepping
into a new chapter of his career in the NFL.
They discuss the pressure that comes with professional sports,
the highs and lows of competing at the highest level, and how
Devin learned to anchor his identity in Christ rather than in
football or performance.
The conversation dives into Devin’s journey from college football
at University of Utah to becoming a first round NFL draft pick
and one of the top linebackers in the league. Devin explains the
mindset required to play linebacker in the NFL, the discipline
and preparation that separate great players from good ones, and
how film study, nutrition, consistency, and daily habits shape
success on and off the field. He also shares the story of how
injuries and adversity early in his career pushed him to deepen
his relationship with Jesus and ultimately changed the way he
views competition, leadership, and life.
Throughout the episode, the conversation turns to what it truly
means to live with purpose, how faith brings clarity and freedom
from the opinions of others, and why understanding God’s approval
allows you to play and live with confidence. Devin talks about
gratitude, humility, leadership in the locker room, and the
importance of surrounding yourself with people who help you grow
spiritually and personally. If you are searching for purpose,
dealing with pressure, or trying to understand how faith and
success intersect, this conversation will challenge and encourage
you to see your life through a bigger perspective.
