its most ambitious strategy yet to reverse the trend. With a
five-point plan focused on land access, financing, education,
rural living, and succession support, Brussels aims to double the
share of farmers under 40 by 2040. Young entrants could receive
starter packages worth up to €300,000, while older farmers may
lose EU payments if they continue beyond retirement age. It’s a
bold attempt to make agriculture attractive, viable, and
future-proof for the next generation.
