Andrey Kortunov: Russia’s New Strategy in the Middle East

Russia is reasserting itself in the Middle East at a time when
the wider region is undergoing great changes. The direct
involvement in Syria was an exception to the rule, as the
objective of Russia is to avoid taking sides. Russia is now
shifting back to its ideal policy of non-alignment in the
region.Andrey Kortunov has been the Director General and Academic
Director of the Russian International Affairs Council. He is a
member of expert and supervisory committees and boards of
trustees of several Russian and international organizations.
