In this podcast, we speak with Prof Götz Thomalla (University
Medical Center Hamburg‑Eppendorf), the coordinating investigator
of the EAST‑STROKE trial, about the aims and background of the
trial, as well as how its results could impact clinical practice.
EAST-STROKE (Early treatment of Atrial fibrillation for Stroke
prevention Trial in acute STROKE) is an international
investigator-initiated trial to test whether early rhythm-control
therapy prevents adverse cardiovascular outcome in patients with
acute ischemic stroke and atrial fibrillation compared to usual
care.
