Avahana mantras are invocations to invite different aspects of
the divine to be present and experiential. At Yoga Vidya, avahana
mantras are often recited before meditation, at the beginning of
homa and puja, and sometimes before lectures.

Spiritual translation

Oh Ganesha, remove all obstacles so that we may begin with great
joy. Oh Sharavanabhava, give us strength and power so that we may
continue even when it becomes difficult. Oh Saraswati, give us
wisdom and deep intuition. Oh Guru, oh Swami Sivananda, please
guide us. Oh Adishakti, you primordial force, bless us and grant
that we may do much good.
