In 1991, a young woman was found savagely beaten and sexually
mutilated on the side of a city road.  Her injuries were so
severe that she wasn't expected to survive; however, she defied all
odds and lived, but was left with a permanent physical
injuries.  The victim was able to provide the authorities with
the names of her attackers and the details of the attack, which led
