Extreme weather is becoming even more extreme thanks to climate
change. Countless lives are claimed by heatwaves, cold snaps,
cyclones, droughts and torrential rains every year around the
world. Climate change threatens to make things worse. But the
United Nations is spearheading new action to make sure every
person on Earth is protected by early warning systems within the
next five years. It’s hoped that this could dramatically reduce
the numbers of deaths caused by extreme weather.
