***ENGLISH AUDIO ONLY*** (ENG) Through a job at the University of
Hamburg, Silpsupa "Look-wa" Jaengsawang came to Germany for the
first time seven years ago. Initially shocked by the direct
manner of many people, Look-wa quickly adapted over time. Today,
she is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for the Study of
Manuscript Cultures (CSMC), where she studies manuscripts and
rituals from Northern Thailand and Laos, among other topics.
Together, we discuss German and Thai work cultures, favorite
German words, and questioning the significance of smiling in
Thailand.
Study of Manuscript Cultures (CSMC), wo sie u.a. Manuskripte und
Rituale aus Nordthailand und Laos erforscht. Zusammen sprechen
Thailand. (NOTE - Due to technical difficulties, the sound
quality might sound rough. Sorry folks!) THAI SWEETS: Thong Yip
(ทองหยิบ) - egg-based dessert shaped like a flower, i.e. used for
blessing ceremonies Thong Yod (ทองหยอด) - egg-based dessert
shaped like a drop Foy Thong (ฝอยทอง) - egg-based, fine threads -
very similar to “Fios de ovos” in Portugal
