How can climate activists and trade unions work together to
foster their potential and power in political participation?
Trade unions in Scotland worked together with climate activists
to develop 10 key demands for a just transition. This episode
presents Scott Agnew, in the off-shore industry since 1984,
discussing the key demands of trade unions in Scotland on just
transition, raising the importance of workers and climate
activism putting their heads together for a just transition.
[Who is behind this Podcast]
Speaker: Scott Agnew, began as a Junior Seaman
with BP Shipping before transitioning to the offshore industry in
1998. He has worked globally on various vessels, received awards
for humanitarian efforts, and fulfilled a lifelong ambition of
working in Antarctic waters.
Scott has been a member of the National Union of Seaman (NUS) and
later changed to the Railway, Maritime and Transport Workers
Union (RMT), holding roles from Branch Chairman to Assistant
Secretary, and participating in various union delegations and
writing for union periodicals for the past 15 years.
