Interview with Usman Ibrahim Babagana from the University of
Maiduguri and Ramat Library about the preservation of indigenous
knowledge of climate change adaptation.


Ibrahim is a PhD Researcher at the University of Maiduguri and
aims to preserve indigenous knowledge from the rural communities
in the north of Nigeria, especially about climate change
Adaptation, but also about medicine, culture and other aspects of
daily life.


The interviewer Yvonne Tunnat (from ZBW Kiel) had heard Ibrahim’s
presentation at iPRES in Belgium in fall 2024 and then invited
him for further questions to the nestor podcast.


Ibrahim is not only collecting the data (pictures, interview
transcripts, short videos), but also taking care of the
preservation of these data at Ramat Library and also aims to make
the data accessible for a broader audience. There is also a
Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Hildesheim,
where he will spend some time in 2025.


He is working with the help of DPC RAM: Digital Preservation
Coalition Rapid Assessment Model by the DPC (Digital Preservation
Coalition).
