Jonathan Shedler is Clinical Professor in the Department of
Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of
California, San Francisco and a faculty member at the San
Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis. He is a psychologist and
psychotherapist. In this episode, Robinson and Jonathan discuss
the clinical side of psychoanalytic theory. They begin by
describing just how different contemporary practice is from its
beginnings with Freud a hundred years ago, before detailing how
