Why Are Journalists Getting Killed In Qatar? The world cup in Qatar
will go down as one of the most controversial tournaments in not
just football but all of the sports. For casuals, it has been
absolute joy; football at its best with a slew of nations making
their mark by beating the big boys. For the staunch followers of
the game, however, feelings have been more mixed than one-sided.
Yes, it’s been exciting to watch the GOATS take to the field in
what may be their last battle on the biggest stage. Yes, there have
been heartbreaking scenes as favourites like Brazil and Portugal
exited while the underdogs like Morocco clinched an unprecedented
place in the semi-finals. Argentina vs Netherlands was a crunchy
game that almost turned violent. And, yes, France and England
produced the best end to end action we had seen in a while. All of
these made the world cup exciting so why is the feeling mixed? That
answer, my friends lie in the stories surrounding the games. Before
the world cup, news broke of the poor treatment of migrant workers,
Qatar’s stance on the LGBTQ+ community and the ban on alcohol.
