The creators behind the Monkees’ hit television series (and the
band itself) hoped to establish an American Beatles - although
the band’s critics would often refer to them as the “Pre-Fab
Four.” While much of the music community despised the Monkees,
the Beatles… actually loved them. Join us as we explore why with
Grammy-nominated producer, historian, and author Andrew Sandoval,
whose new book chronicles the Monkees’ entire career from the
birth of Peter Tork in 1942 to the very last day of 1970.
