Join us on this unforgettable episode of Proper True
Yarn, where we delve deep into the life of comedian
Andrew Hamilton, known affectionately as "Big Hammo." From his
early days of legal tussles to finding his true calling on the
comedy stage, Andrew shares tales that are both uproarious and
enlightening. This episode titled "Comedy Behind Bars: Andrew
Hamilton's Unconventional Path to Laughter" features Andrew's
audacious attempts to bring humor to unexpected places, including
juvenile detention centers and potentially, one day,
maximum-security prisons.

Discover how Andrew's unique blend of relatable and
boundary-pushing humor has not only entertained diverse audiences
but also opened doors to gigs like no other—ranging from
corporate events for government bodies to the less conventional,
like the NSW Drug Court. His dream? To perform stand-up for
inmates at Long Bay Jail and film the experience, believing that
his own brushes with the law might just make him the perfect
candidate to crack a smile on some of the toughest faces.

In a particularly memorable moment, Andrew recounts the
challenges and unexpected twists of performing at a juvenile
detention center, where his material had to navigate the complex
social dynamics of young inmates. His stories are not just about
making people laugh; they're about the transformative power of
comedy to bring light to the darkest of places.

Andrew’s journey is not just about laughs; it's a profound look
at how comedy can serve as a tool for rehabilitation and change.
With plans to possibly run comedy workshops for inmates and
collaborate with initiatives like gyms run by ex-cons, Andrew is
pioneering a path that blends comedy with social impact.
