The two chemokine receptors CCR2 and CCR5 play important roles in
the recruitment and activation of monocytes/macrophages and
T-lymphocytes at sites of infection and inflammation. To further
examine their function, I cloned the two murine chemokine receptors
Ccr2 and Ccr5 from genomic mouse DNA by a PCR-based cloning
strategy and functionally expressed them in stably transfected
CHO-cells. These cells were used to generate the first monoclonal
antibodies against Ccr2 and Ccr5.
