(EN) The Chinese LGBTQ+ activist and filmmaker Popo Fan came to
Berlin three years ago. In this episode, he openly talks about what
he discovered on the street after parties and how his observations
flew into his movie "Beer! Beer! (2019)." While he wants to depart
from the identity-based way of thinking, being an Asian in Germany
often challenges him - "it is very much like being a queer person
in China." The director of "Mama Rainbow (2012)", a documentary
movie that explores the struggles and happiness of Chinese mothers
with queer children, also shares his own coming-out story. Growing
up, he discovered his sexuality through a movie star and was saved
by the legendary actress Faye Wong in the boarding school, as a

chinesische LGBTQ+ Aktivist und Filmemacher Popo Fan kam vor drei
Jahren nach Berlin. In dieser Folge spricht er offen darüber, was
er nach Partys auf der Straße entdeckt hat und wie seine
Beobachtungen in seinen Film "Beer! Beer! (2019)" eingeflossen
sind. Während er von der identitätsbasierten Denkweise abweichen
möchte, fordert ihn sein Asiaten-sein in Deutschland oft heraus -
"es ist sehr ähnlich wie eine queere Person in China zu sein." Der
Regisseur von "Mama Rainbow (2012)", einem Dokumentarfilm über die
Kämpfe und das Glück chinesischer Mütter mit queeren Kindern,
erzählt auch seine eigene Coming-Out-Geschichte. Als er aufwuchs,
entdeckte er seine Sexualität durch einen Filmstar und wurde später
von der legendären Schauspielerin Faye Wong im Internat gerettet,
