It’s time to premier a new sport in the brainpops podcast! Our
latest guest is Itamer Stein (@ito42_) who is the head coach of
Helios Grizzlies Giesen (@heliosgrizzlys). The Grizzlies are
competing in the 1. Volleyball Bundesliga
(@volleyball_bundesliga_official) and will also debut in the CEV
Challenge Cup this year. In this episode we will break down some
facets of the volleyball game. We try to learn some basic
vocabulary and get a little bit into tactics. Smash or Spike?! What
are front and backcourt? What are similarities to our beloved
basketball? Is there also a point guard running the show? Itamer
took us through his journey being a professional player for over
ten years into becoming a headcoach. He explains why he needed to
kill the player inside of him in order to become a better coach.
Itamer describes what leadership means to him and explains why he
is not the biggest fan of team rules. What qualities does he value
in a player? How does he prepare his team for games? What role does
the weight room play? Lean back, get some popcorn and enjoy the
show!
