Adam Brooks was another participant in my ayahuasca retreat and
our recording took place 10 months after the retreat. We talk
about all the challenges that 2020 has revealed to him in the
integration process and why, despite all the 'setbacks', he has
never lost the feeling that for the first time in his life he is
being guided by an inner trust to be on the right path.

Before each guided Journey I stress the importance of integration
after the psychedelic journey. The experience itself can be seen
as an extremely powerful catalyst, providing insights and
realisations about oneself that can sometimes be overwhelming.
However, the power of psychedelic work lies not only in the depth
of the session itself, but rather in the exploration, processing
and application of the insights after the experience, which takes
place days, months and even years after a trip.

Integration is key and can be seen as the ground on which
psychedelic experiences take root. Without this ground, these
experiences can simply fade over time. Whether in an individual
session or collectively as a group, the goal is to catalyse a
meaningful and transformative process that goes far beyond the
psychedelic experience. In everyday life, one then remembers what
one has experienced and has the opportunity, perhaps for the
first time in one's life, to (self-)consciously react to it. One
catches oneself more and more as an observer of one's thoughts
and actions and is thus able to understand that we are not our
irrational fears and insecurities and get the chance to change
and let go of things in life that have served their
purpose.

Adam shares with us his own journey of integration and gives us
pointers on how he dealt with certain situations and what tips he
has for someone who also wants to embark on this journey.
