The boys are back from Bathurst, and there’s plenty to unpack!
We kick things off with the highs and lows of Bathurst, a few hilarious stories from the mountain and the online flak that followed. Joel also weighs in on Charlie’s statement from Team 18 after a pretty sour result.
Sammy opens up about the direction of his career and why becoming qualified doesn’t mean you have to go out, start a business and try to take over the world. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with working for someone else, finding your lane and enjoying what you do.
Hoppo and Sammy dive into the big move from Makita to DeWalt, discussing the pros, cons and Hoppo’s initial concerns about how people would react to switching tool platforms.
We also announce another very deservingDeWalt Mad Dog Giveaway winner, with plenty of laughs, banter and a bit of carry-on in between.

The boys have made it to Bathurst… although Sammy nearly didn’t.
We kick things off with a passport left in a Dublin hotel, a mad-dog Uber driver and Hoppo trying to keep airport check-in open. Apparently the most organised bloke of the three isn’t immune to a stitch-up.
Then DeWalt Racing’s Anton De Pasquale and Lee Holdsworth jump on for a chat about racing over the mountain, what it takes to get from go-karts into cars, and the sacrifices that come with chasing a career in motorsport.
Plus, Tommy joins us for a yarn about Welsh versus Aussie trade culture, workwear and finding his feet on social media, and we crown another DeWalt Mad Dog Giveaway winner.
Plenty of racing, trade chat and carry-on from the boys’ first trip to the mountain.
Massive thanks to DeWalt for getting us here and backing Between Two Jobs. Guaranteed Tough.

This week we’re getting into what it takes to close the gap in the building industry — Sammy discusses not just pushing the top end higher, but bringing the bottom up with better standards, better expectations and a closer look at what our trade schools are producing.
We chat about the upcoming Bathurst pilgrimage, with the boys gearing up to hit the road in a few weeks. Joel talks systems… again — and, annoyingly, proves us wrong… again.
We get into the old apprentice mentality of going out and absolutely sending it all weekend, but still rocking up Monday morning because you didn’t want to let the team down. That rolls into a bigger conversation around smoko culture — putting the phone down, actually talking to the other trades on site and keeping alive the camaraderie that makes this industry what it is.
Hoppo also talks about not letting some random stranger on Instagram, sitting behind a username and ragging on your work, stop you from chasing opportunities and living out your goals.
Plus, we crown another DeWalt Mad Dog Giveaway winner and start talking plans for the Between Two Jobs Christmas Breakup — LIVE podcast event.

Would you do your apprenticeship differently if you had your time again?
In Episode 3, Sammy looks back at his apprenticeship and questions whether spending more time across different areas of carpentry would have made him a better tradesman.
Joel talks about why buying software won’t magically fix a disorganised business. Before any system can work, you need disciplined processes, clear expectations and a team willing to follow them.
Hoppo opens up about what work-life balance actually looks like while running a business and co-parenting. Some days he starts late, some days he leaves early, and he’s stopped pretending that every successful business owner needs to work the same hours every day.
Then Joel gets fired up in Sticky Situation about people blatantly asking for free business coaching, including one bloke who wanted him to hand over the names of his customers.
Real conversations about apprenticeships, business systems, family and where helping someone crosses the line.
Between Two Jobs is proudly presented by DeWalt, Guaranteed Tough.
Joel’s systems segment is proudly supported by AroFlo.

.Winter blues, tool wars, family, content… and somehow, a sex doll. 🫢
This episode we get into the reality of working on site through winter and the seasonal slump that can come with it.
We rate the different tool platforms, talk about trying to balance family life with the never-ending demand of making content, and announce our latest Mad Dog Giveaway.
There’s some genuine conversation, plenty of differing opinions… and then, as usual, it goes completely off the rails.
How the heck a sex doll made it into the conversation? You’ll have to listen to find out.
