International Composites Summit Interview with Gemma Smith of Fluency and David Bailey FRAeS Ph.D Composites UK - Trade Association

In this interview Ilkay Özkisaoglu, Co-Founder of the Composites Lounge talks to Gemma Smith, CEO of Fluency the organizer of the International Composites Summit (ICS) and David Bailey, CEO of Composites UK.

Questions revolve primarily around this fairly new exhibition format that focusses on composites (C/FRPs) as follows:

-What is the Mission of ICS?

-Why do you focus on composites?

-What do exhibitors and visitors appreciate particularly on the ICS format?

-Assuming we have left the pandemy behind us, what plans do you have for future editions of ICS?

Another aspect of the video is the condition and outlook of the UK composites market from the lens of Composites UK - Trade Association. Hence, my questions to David:

-When was CUK extablished, how many members do you have and what are typical outlets/working groups etc?

-What role do composites play in the UK in regards to CO2 emission reduction?

-Are there any governmental initiatives?

-Do you allow international companies to become a member and if so, what would be a good first step to start this process?

Der zweitätige Branchentreff hat sich in den letzten Jahren zu einem Pflichttermin der Papier, Folie und Vliesstoff verarbeitenden Industrie entwickelt und bietet eine einmalige Mischung aus hochkarätigen Fachvorträgen, angeregten Diskussionsrunden und entspannten Networking-Angeboten.

In diesem Linkedin Live gehe ich mit Martin Hirschmann dem Redakteur beim DFV der Frage nach, wie sich der Summit über die Jahre entwickelte und welche Mehrwert dieser seinen exklusiven Teilnehmern bietet.

Im Interview sprach Ilkay Özkisaoglu mit dem parlamentarischen Staatssekretär Herrn Michael Kellner zur Rolle des Leichtbaus für die deutsche Bundesregierung.

Herr Kellner, BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN ist im Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz und sprach sowohl auf der HANNOVER MESSE, als auch auf der LightCon 2022.

Hören Sie, welche besondere Stellung, gerade in der heutigen Zeit der Leichtbau für unsere Gesellschaft spielt und wie die von der Regierung geförderte Forschung primär eingesetzt wird.

Im Rahmen der Vorstellung der LightCon (1.-2.6.2022), das Konferenzformat für Leichtbau haben wir heute das Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz zu Gast. Die Bundesregierung hat u.a. den Leichtbau zur "Schlüsseltechnologie" erklärt.

Mit Werner Loscheider, dem Referatsleiter Bauwirtschaft, Leichtbau / Neue Werkstoffe und Ressourceneffizienz im Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz gehen wir diesem Begriff auf den Grund. Zudem stellen wir den "Lightweight Summit", der tagszuvor bei der parallel laufenden Hannover Messe am 31.5.2022 ab 14 Uhr stattfindet, vor.

Mein Gast ist auch erstmals Dr Köckler, Vorstandsvorsitzender der Deutschen Messe AG. Neben der Frage, wie er die Aussichten für Messen in der Zukunft sieht werde ich ihn auch nach seiner persönlichen Nutzung von Linkedin als weiteren Kanal befragen. Er hat für sich eine effiziente Routine entwickelt und halte diese für eine gute Möglichkeit für Social CEOs.

Im zweiten Teil, darf ich Dr Gunnar Merz begrüssen und werde mit ihn zu den Internationalisierungsbestrebungen des Composites United befragen.

Last, but not least darf natürlich der Projektleiter der LightCon, Thomas Pinkowski nicht fehlen. Das wir nur noch fünf Tage bis zum Konferenzbeginn haben wollen wir die Leichtbau und Composites Community noch schnell auf den neuesten Stand bringen.
