Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is utilized in the
treatment of sleep disorders. For this reason, I address this
aspect in all.about.sleep. I was fortunate enough to interview
the brilliant mind behind the method.
Dr. Hayes is a psychology professor emeritus at the University of
Nevada, author of approximately 50 books, and has published over
700 scientific articles. His book "Get Out of Your Mind and Into
Your Life" has sold over 300,000 copies and has been awarded as
the best self-help book in the USA.
Dr. Hayes has been honored for his lifetime achievements by the
Society of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy. He is one of the
psychologist with the highest impact - dead or alive.
Dr. Hayes developed Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, also known
as ACT, which has been globally recognized for more than four
decades as part of the third wave of behavioral therapy. ACT is
not only used in therapy but also in coaching, leadership,
organization, and performance.
Steven and I want to showcase the remarkable impact and effects
of ACT on mental disorders. We will provide clear guidance on how
to handle dysfunctional thoughts and emotions and we will explore
the philosophy of ACT, specifically discussing psychological
flexibility.
