Räuber haben mir mein Geld zurückgegeben, nachdem sie es mit
vorgehaltener Waffe gestohlen hatten!


Am 15. September 2001, frühmorgens um 06:30 Uhr, machte ich mich
auf den Weg von Patna in mein weniger als 80 km entferntes Dorf.
Ich stieg in ein Sammeltaxi, um zum Bahnhof zu fahren. Doch kaum
10 Minuten später stand eine Gruppe von 4-5 jungen Männern
(keiner von ihnen sah älter als 25 aus) mitten auf der Straße und
stoppte unser Sammeltaxi. Mein Gedächtnis ist etwas schwach, aber
ich glaube, jeder von ihnen hatte eine im Land hergestellte
Pistole in der Hand. Als unser Sammeltaxi vor ihnen anhielt und
alle Passagiere aus Angst um ihr Leben ausstiegen, stürzte sich
einer der Männer auf mich und stieß mir seine Pistole an die
Kehle. Ohne lange nachzudenken, reichte ich ihm den einzigen
100-Rupien-Schein, den ich hatte. Er nahm es, schob mich zur
Seite und ging zum nächsten Passagier. Ich hielt sie ruhig auf,
während die Männer die anderen Passagiere mit vorgehaltener Waffe
bedrohten und ausraubten. Kaum ein paar Minuten später, gerade
als sie alle ausgeraubt hatten und den Fahrgästen bedeuteten,
wieder ins Taxi zu steigen, und dem Taxifahrer befahlen, das Taxi
wegzufahren, flüsterte ich dem Mann, den ich ansprach, ein paar
Worte ins Ohr hatte mein Geld übergeben. Er sah mich an, holte
einen 100-Rupien-Schein aus seiner Tasche (wahrscheinlich
derselbe, den ich ihm gegeben hatte), drückte ihn mir in die Hand
und befahl mir und dem Taxifahrer, sofort zu gehen. Innerhalb von
Sekunden fuhren wir los und hielten keine Sekunde an, bis wir
direkt am Bahnhof ankamen.


Als wir anhielten, sah ich andere Passagiere klagen, weil einigen
von ihnen eine Menge Geld und andere Wertgegenstände (wie
Goldschmuck usw.) gestohlen worden waren.

On 15 September 2001, early morning at 06:30 AM, I was going from
Patna to my village which was less than 80 km away. I got on a
shared taxi, to go to the train station. However, barely 10
minutes later, a group of 4-5 young men (none of them looked
older than 25) stood in the middle of the road and stopped our
shared taxi. My memory is a bit faint, but, I think each one of
them had a country-manufactured pistol in their hand. As our
shared taxi stopped in front of them, and all the passengers got
out scared for their life, one of the men lunged towards me and
shoved his pistol on my throat. Without thinking twice, I handed
him the one and only 100 Rupee note that I had. He took it,
pushed me to the side, and moved to the next passenger. I stook
their quietly as the men threatened and robbed the other
passengers at gunpoint. Barely a couple of minutes later, just as
they had robbed everyone, and indicated to the passengers to get
back into the taxi and ordered the taxi driver to drive away the
taxi, I whispered a few words into the ears of the man to whom I
had handed my money to. He looked at me, took out a 100-rupee
note from his pocket (probably the same one I had given him), and
shoved it into my palm, and ordered me and the taxi driver to
leave immediately. Within seconds, we drove off, and didn't halt
for a second until we reached straight to the train station.


When we stopped, I saw other passengers wailing as a few of them
had been robbed off a lot of money and other valuables (such as
gold jewellery, etc).
