You have to have a hunters mentality – Repatriation with Edward Halealoha Ayau

CN: In this episode we talk about repatriation of human
remains.
The more reconciliation is promoted, advocated, championed, the
better of we all arr as community as nations as pople to get away
from this racist view. That's why his the work from our guest
today Edward Halealoha Ayau is so important. He has been an
activist for over 30 years.   He has led efforts to
repatriate iwi kūpuna (ancestral Hawaiian skeletal remains),
moepū (funerary possessions) and mea kapu (sacred objects).
Earlier this year he was in Vienna and Germany taken part in
repatriation ceremonies.
We talked with about his work and what changed during the last 30
years. We also talked to him about the traumatic issues he deals
with so often, and the criticism he is confronted with.
