Laurence Vallières is a Canadian sculptor from Quebec, she works
with recycled cardboard and builds incredibly realistic animals
that often are larger than life. She has been showing
internationally at galleries, institutions and many Urban Art
Festivals. She even created two of her oversized gorillas for
Burning Man 2016. She has only been around a few years in the art
world, but has already made a big name for herself because of the
uniqueness of her work. I first met Laurence a few years ago when I
did an interview with her for the german newspaper Die Zeit. She
was part of the Knotenpunkt Festival in Hamburg in 2014 and has
returned twice since. When she came to grace this years Knotenpunkt
at the Affenfaust Galerie it was the perfect opportunity to invite
her to the studio and record a show with her.
