BSI Education Podcast Join Matthew Chiles and Cindy Parokkil - and
their guests along the way - as they podcast about the stories
behind the standards. Standards make life better for everyone. They
affect every part of our daily lives – from our work experiences to
our personal choices. Whether we’re trying to choose a smartphone
or protect our company from cyber-attack, standards make it easier
to make good choices. They also help governments to make better
decisions, and make organizations more successful and socially and
environmentally responsible. In this podcast, expect conversations
on the concepts and history of standards, and the people and
organizations involved. Plus, spotlights on individual standards -
looking at why and how they were developed, and the impact they
have. The relationship between standards and key economic issues
and trends are also covered, as is the role of standards in
specific sectors and industries. We showcase the power of standards
to drive change, especially in helping countries to achieve their
SDGs. Expect features too, such as our Standards Desk of News -
with information about the latest standards, standards in the news,
and those out for public consultation - and on how standards can
help support your education, research and professional development
interests. As well as our regular episodes, look out for bite-sized
specials - where we dip our toes into particular issues. And series
too - where we explore key topics over a number of episodes. And
though we never stray too far from standards, we're often prone to
the occasional whimsical content digression. You have been
warned... Sometimes serious, sometimes light-hearted - though
always engaging and informative - this is your regular guide to the
world of standards. Matthew Chiles has 20 years' experience
developing partnerships in the education and skills sector for
government, agencies, and charities. When he's not supporting the
next generation of industry experts through BSI Education, he'll be
out running or cycling whenever humanly possible. Cindy Parokkil is
an economist and international development practitioner, who's
spent most of her career with the UN. When she’s not helping to
solve the world's developmental challenges through BSI
International Projects, she'll be out hunting for the best strudel.
Some episodes also include Alan Sellers, former Senior Compliance
Manager at Dyson, and Chair of BSI’s Young Professionals Advisory
Panel. BSI Education builds relationships and creates programmes to
help raise awareness of the benefits of standards to society and
the economy, and to encourage and increase standards-making
participation. Find out more at www.bsigroup.com/education. Get in
