I mentioned (briefly) Capt. Harvey “Hoot” Gibson in the show. He was involved in an “incident” in 1979 over Saginaw, MI, where the TWA 727 he was flying rolled twice, losing 34,000 feet and exceeding 6 Gs in the process! Here’s a link to a Wikipedia article about the flight: TWA Flight 841
I also remembered (after my recording session, of course!) that a guy named “Tex” Johnston, a Boeing test pilot, performed a barrel roll in a B-707 prototype in 1955. Here’s the video:
